Stop the Hate; Stop the GOP

Your statement reminds me of a story I heard in my Southern Baptist church in the South when I was a teenager and civil rights movement was just starting.  The minister there believed we should live Christ's teachings and that "God didn't make junk". The "good people (?)" of the church forced him out of the church when I was 16.  It made me understand Gandhi's statement "I like your Christ but I don't like your Christians". It's been a long time ago (I'm 68 now), but it made a big impression on me. It went something like this:

Two little white boys are playing & one says to the other, "My Daddy say we shouldn't play with black people because they're bad people and not like us".  So the little boys decide they'll hate black people because they're different. Then they start school and they meet a black boy at school and find he's really nice and fun and just a little boy like them and they start playing with him. After a while, the one boy says to the other," We really like Johnny, and he's black. We want to play with him, so we can't hate black people anymore.  WHO CAN WE HATE NOW? "

The GOP is a "hate this" and "fear them" machine designed to keep us at each others throats so we don't pay attention to the "liar behind the curtain".  They say they want government out of our business, but they want it in our bedrooms and uterus and  to stop our protections in the workplace and the environment. They want to destroy anything that will empower the middle class, poor, women and people of color.  They say we should be following "their" version of right and wrong, all the while stealing us blind and throwing us in the trenches after they've destroyed us and throwing other bodies on top of us to keep us there and making us fight one another to climb out. They ignore the teachings of the Christ they claim to worship and make a mockery of human rights and common decency.
